High School Confirmation
December 9, 2016 Confirmation
Confirmation for High School Students will be celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond at Holy Name of Jesus Church at 7 P.M. on Friday, December 9, 2016. The youth who began preparing for this event in the fall of 2015, will again gather from 7:15P.M. to 8:45 P.M. on September 11 in the North Room of the Parish Center. Additional meetings will take place on September 25; October 9, 23; November 6, 20, 2016. On December 3, 2016, a Confirmation Retreat will take place from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. in Ignatius Chapel, Loyola University Campus. Immediately following the retreat at 1 P.M., students will join their sponsor (or a parent if the sponsor is not able to attend) to rehearse the Ceremony and be assigned their specific place. Outstanding Baptismal and First Communion Certificates as well as a sponsor letters and evidence of completed service hours will be collected at first gatherings. Each student will also be asked to select a saint’s name which is used in the Confirmation ritual.
Confirmation in 2017-2018 School Year
A new Confirmation program is commencing this fall for students tenth grade or higher who do not receive Catholic Religious Education as part of their High School curriculum. Classes will meet every other Sunday in the South Room of the Parish Center from 7 p.m. to 8:30 P.M. on September 11, 25; October 9, 23; November 6, 20, December 4, 18; January 15, 29; February 12; March 12, 26; April 9, 23 and May 7.
Students presently in Catholic Schools at the 10th grade level or higher, will join this group next year to collectively become our next group to be confirmed during the 2017-2018 school session.

#890 of the Church’s Code of Canon Law says that “the faithful are obliged to receive this sacrament at the proper time.” This might be that time for you! We will be starting our spring series of adult Confirmation preparation sessions January 20, 2015. They take place on Tuesday evenings.
