Young Adult Group Service Projects

Each season theHNJ Young Adult Group organizes a service project.  These projects give our members the opportunity to volunteer their time and talents with those most in need in our community. Please contact our leadership team to get involved.

Upcoming Service Projects:

Help Out at Hope House

We will soon be planning our fall service project. The Facebook page and monthly emails will provide details once we have decided on a date.  We will once again be assisting the New Orleans Catholic Worker in sharing food, hospitality, and fellowship with men and women who are homeless or hungry. Our group will gather for 5:30pm at St. Thomas House of Hospitality (1910 Constance St) for a brief orientation on the history and mission of the Catholic Worker. Then we will walk to Hope House to set up, serve dinner (Popeye’s, which we will be providing to 30-50 folks), join the community for a movie, and finally clean up before leaving at around 8:15pm. Please email Jeremy Burke at hnjyag@gmail.com to sign up.

Recent Service Project:

New Orleans Catholic Worker Dinner

In November of 2013, we assisted the New Orleans Catholic Worker in sharing food, hospitality, and fellowship with men and women who are homeless or hungry.  Our group gathered for 5:30pm at St. Thomas House of Hospitality (1910 Constance St) for a brief orientation on the history and mission of the Catholic Worker.  Then we went to Hope House to set up and serve a delicious dinner of Popeye’s chicken for the 40 or so guests of the house.  After dinner, we joined the guests for a movie and socializing.
