Holy Name of Jesus alter

Altar Servers (Acolytes)

Children 4th Grade and up are trained for serving at the Altar at Holy Name. Three servers are assigned for each Mass – a cross-bearer and two candle-bearers. Brother and sister teams of three are welcome! For more information contact Colleen Maher at 865-7430. ext. 224 or cmaher@hnjchurch.org

CCD & High School Confirmation

As schools begin to open, our CCD program for students in K-9 is also preparing to start. Classes start Sunday, September 11. All classes will be held in the Parish Center (6220 LaSalle Place). Grades K-6 meet Sunday mornings from 9-10:15A.M., and grades 7-9 meet after the 6 P.M. mass.

Sophomores: You are invited to join us, as well, as you prepare for the final sacrament of initiation into the Church—Confirmation. If you attend a Catholic high school, you only need to attend Confirmation sessions during the sophomore year. [You will be confirmed during the fall semester of your junior year.] If you attend a non-Catholic high school, the Archdiocese requires two full years of Catholic education before the sacrament. Therefore, you are required to attend CCD in 9th grade before beginning the confirmation program in the fall of your sophomore year. Confirmation sessions will meet once a month in the Parish Center from 7-8:30 P.M. on Sundays. We will learn about our faith and grow in fellowship as we prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Please see the registration forms located by the doors of the church or in the Parish Center. For more information please contact Justin Martineau, the Coordinator of Religious Education, at cre@hnjchurch.org or 504-865-7430 x206.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Each Sunday at the 10:30 A.M. mass Holy Name offers the Liturgy of the Word for children up to the 3rd grade. Children are dismissed before the first reading and return after the creed. Anyone interested in volunteering as a catechist for the children’s’ liturgy should contact the parish center office.
